Hyrox Gyms in NYC: Where to Train for Your Next Race (2026)

Battle Bunker August 3, 2026 9 min read

Short answer: the officially affiliated Hyrox options in New York City are CrossFit NYC in Flatiron, Prehab in the Garment District, The Fort at its NYC locations, Brooklyn Strength Club on Flatbush Avenue, and the five F45 NYC studios, since F45 is the global HYROX training partner. For volume of class times, CrossFit NYC. For open access to all eight race stations, F45 Dumbo and Midtown East on Sundays. For a competition team environment, The Training Lab in Midtown.

New York is the biggest Hyrox market in North America and it still has the same problem every other city has, only worse. The race needs a SkiErg, a rower, a sled and a lane to push it in, wall balls, a heavy sandbag, and 100 meters of clear floor. Manhattan real estate does not hand out 100 meters of clear floor.

HYROX has confirmed the race is returning to New York and calls it the largest event on its calendar. As of this writing the official event page still lists date, venue and ticket sales as coming soon, so do not build a training block around a secondhand date.

A note on "official affiliate" versus "Hyrox-style"

An official HYROX affiliate or Training Club pays for affiliation, gets the official programming library, and can market under the HYROX name. A gym running Hyrox-style conditioning is not automatically worse, and a couple here are clearly better staffed. But it is not the same thing. Every affiliate claim below comes from the gym's own site. Where a gym makes no such claim, I say it runs Hyrox-focused training.

Hyrox gyms in New York City

CrossFit NYC

Area: Flatiron, 50 West 28th Street, plus an Upper West Side location.
Status: States on its own site, "We are an Official HYROX Training Gym in the Flatiron District of Manhattan."

The deepest Hyrox schedule in the city by a wide margin: nine 60 minute classes Wednesday from 6:00 AM to 7:45 PM, seven 90 minute classes Saturday, four more Sunday. If your work hours are unpredictable, that matters more than anything else here. Published pricing: $199 On-Ramp, $199 per month for three classes a week, $45 single, $350 ten pack. crossfitnyc.com

Prehab

Area: 109 West 38th Street, Garment District, fourth floor.
Status: States on its own site that it is an Official HYROX Training Club in New York City.

A physical therapy clinic and running lab first, which makes it the odd one out. Its Hyrox program runs on gait analysis, athletic assessment, and clinical interpretation of the results into a plan. For a race that is half running, that is a real edge. Published pricing: $15 first class, $35 after, $300 for ten. Best for runners. prehab.com

The Fort NYC

Area: multiple NYC locations including the Upper East Side, with Williamsburg announced on its site as coming soon.
Status: States on its own site, "As NYC's official HYROX partner gym."

The Fort trains people in groups of four, the tightest coaching ratio here, and Hyrox punishes sloppy sled pulls and wall balls harder than people expect. Rather than a fixed weekly class, the site routes you to a multiple Hyrox podium finisher on staff. The locations block on its Hyrox page was still placeholder text when I checked, so confirm which location runs Hyrox. gym.thefortnyc.com

F45 NYC

Area: five studios. Manhattan: Flatiron, Midtown East, Lower East Side. Brooklyn: Dumbo and Williamsburg.
Status: States on its own site that F45 Training is the Official Global HYROX Training Partner, announced May 2024.

The best thing here is not the classes, it is the open gym. Dumbo runs Hyrox Open Gym Sundays 12:00 to 2:00 PM and Midtown East 1:00 to 3:00 PM, all eight stations laid out, $20 members and $30 non-members. That is the cheapest way in the city to rehearse a full race. f45nyc.com

Brooklyn Strength Club

Area: 2100 Flatbush Avenue, serving Marine Park, Flatlands, East Flatbush, Mill Basin and Sheepshead Bay.
Status: States on its own site that it is an official Hyrox affiliate gym.

Deep South Brooklyn has almost nothing else, and the gym says so in its own pitch: skip the trip to Manhattan. Two coached classes a week, Thursdays 6:30 PM and Saturdays 7:30 AM, at $112 for four sessions or $30 drop-in. They are also running a Hyrox Doubles simulation race on September 7, 2026. A simulation is the highest value session in any build and almost nobody hosts one. brooklynstrengthclub.com

The Training Lab

Area: 54 West 39th Street, ninth floor, Midtown Manhattan.
Status: Runs Hyrox-focused training. Its Hyrox page does not state official affiliate status, so I am not calling it one.

What it has instead is a record: multiple world championship qualifiers and podium finishers among its members, plus a competition team that races under the gym's name. That is harder to fake than a badge. Specialized classes, a recovery lounge, and a two week unlimited intro for new local clients. traininglabnyc.com

Bodied Fitness Club

Area: 164 West 25th Street, second floor, Chelsea.
Status: Runs Hyrox-focused training. No affiliate claim appears on its Hyrox page.

A one hour Hyrox class built to mirror the race, inside a strength and conditioning gym that also programs regular lifting. The Hyrox work is coached sessions rather than a large open class, so the price sits well above the drop-in gyms here. Confirm rates directly, because the site's packages are easy to misread. bodiednyc.com

Greenpoint Athletics

Area: 188 Dupont Street, North Greenpoint, Brooklyn, off McGuinness Boulevard.
Status: Runs Hyrox-focused training. Its own site describes the classes without claiming affiliate status.

The first CrossFit gym in North Brooklyn, established 2012. Its Hyrox classes are structured as mini simulations of the race rather than generic conditioning, which lets you measure progress week to week. Open gym access runs alongside the classes. Best for Greenpoint and Williamsburg athletes. greenpointathletics.com

What the race demands, and what NYC gyms actually have

Ignore the branding. Walk the floor and check six things, because they are what the race tests.

  • SkiErg. Station one, 1,000 meters, and the most commonly missing machine in American gyms.
  • Sled push and pull. Not just a sled, but a surface and a lane long enough to use it. The race runs 50 meters each on turf.
  • Rower. Easy. Almost every functional gym in the city has Concept2 rowers.
  • Wall balls. Check target height, 10 feet for men and 9 for women. Low ceilings are a real problem in New York basements.
  • Sandbags. A bag at your race weight and a lane long enough to walk lunges without turning every six steps.
  • Farmers carry. Kettlebells or dedicated handles, plus open floor.

The SkiErg and the sled lane eliminate most gyms, and in New York the lane is the harder of the two. Look at the addresses above: Prehab is on a fourth floor, Bodied on a second, The Training Lab on a ninth. Upper floor gyms in Manhattan office buildings rarely have 50 meters of turf, and floor load limits shape what a sled can weigh. Most work around it with shorter lanes and more repeats, which builds the right quality even when the distance is wrong. Ask two questions on your tour: how long is the sled lane, and can members use it outside class time?

Training for Hyrox without a Hyrox gym

You do not need an affiliate to get race ready. You need a plan and a set of honest substitutes.

Athlete mid-effort on a SkiErg machine in a dimly lit functional fitness gym

The runs: half the race is 8km of running and New York is one of the best running cities on earth. Central Park, Prospect Park, the East River and Hudson River greenways. Do your compromised running outdoors.

Sled push and pull: the best home substitute is a heavy sandbag drag on grass or turf using a strap, or a tire on a rope. Bear hug carries and short heavy walking intervals build the same quad and calf tolerance. You are training sustained horizontal force at a heart rate you cannot control, and the implement matters less than the time under load.

SkiErg: no perfect substitute exists. Banded straight arm pulldowns, heavy rope work, and rowing intervals for the aerobic cost get you close. Get on a real SkiErg a few times before race day so the movement is not brand new.

Sandbag lunges: train these exactly as written, because you can. One bag at race weight covers this station and the farmers carry pattern, which is why it is the highest return piece of equipment you can own for this race and why I built our line of training sandbags the way I did.

Wall balls: a medicine ball and a strip of tape at 9 or 10 feet.

Pair the substitutes with structure. Our Hyrox training plan lays out a beginner build week by week, and inside the final month work through the race day preparation guide so you are not improvising your taper and pacing.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need an official Hyrox affiliate gym to train in NYC?

No. Affiliation gives a gym programming and marketing rights, not a monopoly on results, and two of the strongest competitive rooms in this city make no affiliate claim at all. What you need is access to a SkiErg and a sled at some point in your build, a plan that progresses compromised running, and twelve weeks of consistency. An affiliate is convenience and community, not a requirement.

How much does Hyrox training cost in New York City?

Published drop-in rates run $30 to $45, with F45's Sunday open gym the cheapest entry at $20 for members and $30 for everyone else. Monthly Hyrox memberships start around $199 at CrossFit NYC. Call before you buy, because rates change faster than any directory updates, this one included.

Is there a Hyrox race in New York?

Yes. HYROX lists New York on its official event calendar and calls it its largest event, but at the time of writing that page shows date, venue and ticket sales as coming soon. Check hyrox.com directly rather than trusting a secondhand date, and assume a twelve to sixteen week runway once tickets drop.

Which borough is best to train in?

Manhattan has the most class times and the shortest sled lanes. Brooklyn has more floor space per dollar and a thinner schedule outside North Brooklyn. If you live in Queens, the Bronx or Staten Island, expect to commute for coached sessions and do your running and sandbag work locally. That is a fine setup: one or two coached station sessions a week plus your own running is enough to race well.
