THE FOUNDER

Austen Alexander, Founder of Battle Bunker

Austen Alexander is the founder of Battle Bunker, a Navy veteran, and one of the most recognizable fitness content creators in the hybrid training space. If you found Battle Bunker by searching his name, here is the real story behind the brand.

Seven Years in the Navy

Austen grew up in Florence, Alabama and dropped out of college in 2013 to enlist in the U.S. Navy. He served seven years as a Master-at-Arms doing Harbor Patrol, which is a lot of early mornings, physical standards, and learning how to push through discomfort on a schedule. That time in the military shaped how he trains and how he thinks about building things.

In 2018, still on active duty, he posted his first YouTube video. The goal was to share what he knew about fitness and military life. It caught on.

The Battle Bunker Origin

When Austen separated from the Navy in 2020, he took his savings and built a nine-obstacle course in the California desert. Not a gym. A full obstacle course, filmed as a long-form series featuring creators and athletes like Markiplier, James Charles, and Josh Richards. Twenty-one episodes. A lot of views. A brand name people started recognizing.

Battle Bunker started as a fitness experience. It became a gear company because the equipment Austen actually trained with either did not exist or did not hold up. Hybrid athletes doing pull-ups, loaded carries, sandbag work, and barbell training need gear that travels between modalities without falling apart. So he built it himself.

The Gear Reflects the Training

Every Battle Bunker product comes out of real training demands, not focus groups. The Battle Bands cover 10 to 125 lbs for everything from warm-up mobility work to full-load training. The Battle Bundle pairs bands with hanging ab straps for a complete home setup. The Hybrid Belt is designed for athletes who move between strength and conditioning without swapping equipment every set.

This is not single-discipline gear. It is built for people who do a lot of different things and need one kit that handles all of it.

What Came After

In 2022, Austen launched the Battle Bus, a mobile fitness challenge that rolls into cities and puts everyday people on a deadlift platform or a pull-up bar for cash prizes. The short-form content hit 100 million views in 55 days and added 100,000 subscribers to his channel. He also founded Hybricon Games, a hybrid fitness competition blending strength, endurance, and military-style obstacles.

He runs Battle Bunker full time from Chula Vista, California, alongside his training and his content. The mission has been the same since day one: get people to do more than they thought they could.

Veteran-Owned, Built for Serious Training

Battle Bunker is veteran-owned. That is not a tagline. It shows up in the quality of the gear, the way Austen coaches, and who he builds for: military members, hybrid athletes, and anyone who takes their training seriously enough to show up every day.
