Hyrox Gyms in Phoenix: Where to Train for Your Next Race (2026)
Short answer: the clearest officially affiliated options in the Valley are 5 Star Fitness in Scottsdale, Infinity Fitness AZ in north Scottsdale, CrossFit Full Strength in central Phoenix, Jump Ship CrossFit in north Phoenix, and Arizona Performance Institute in Mesa. For Hyrox-focused training without an official badge, Suffer City on the Mesa and Gilbert line. If you want a big-box membership that covers Tempe, Chandler and Gilbert on one card, Mountainside Fitness.
Hyrox is a specific list of demands, not a vibe. It wants a SkiErg, a rower, a sled you can push on turf for 50 meters, wall balls at two target heights, a sandbag at race weight, and enough clear lane to lunge 100 meters. The Valley has hundreds of gyms. A small fraction have all six.
HYROX lists InBody HYROX Phoenix for February 25 to 28, 2027 on its official event page. Venue information is still marked as coming soon there, so do not book a hotel off a third-party address yet. What that date does tell you is when to build: a February race means your heaviest training months are November through January, which is the best weather Arizona gets all year.
A note on "official affiliate" versus "Hyrox-style"
These are not the same thing. An official HYROX affiliate, usually branded as a HYROX Training Club, pays for affiliation, gets the official programming library, can market under the HYROX name, and typically gets early race registration for members. A gym running Hyrox-style conditioning without that badge is not worse, it is just not the same arrangement. Below I report what each gym claims on its own website, and where a gym makes no official claim, I say so plainly.
Hyrox gyms in Phoenix and the Valley
5 Star Fitness
Area: Scottsdale.
Status: Calls itself Arizona's premier HYROX Training Club on its own Hyrox page.
The most purpose-built Hyrox floor I found in Arizona. Its own page describes official HYROX competition equipment, a 75 foot turf training lane for sleds and farmers carries, five Assault Runner treadmills, and a dedicated Hyrox space so you are not waiting on a rig. It also runs in-house race simulations, Hyrox fitness tests and time trials, which is the part most gyms promise and few schedule. Intro offer is three classes for $49, and its own page lists weekly Hyrox memberships at $49, $69 and $79. Best for someone who wants the race environment replicated rather than approximated. 5starfitnessonline.com
Infinity Fitness AZ
Area: North Scottsdale, off the Loop 101 at Raintree.
Status: States on its own Hyrox page that it is now an official HYROX Training Club.
A group fitness gym with 24/7 member access that folded Hyrox into its programming rather than rebuilding around it. The structure is sensible: one dedicated Hyrox session per week year round, extra Hyrox classes added in the final weeks before the Phoenix race, a HYROX PFT benchmark test, and a full race simulation. Published drop-in pricing has been $25 for weekday training and $35 for extended Saturday sessions, with race prep bundles. One caveat worth knowing: the schedule printed on that page was built around the last Phoenix race date, so call and ask what the current cycle looks like. First class is free. infinityfitnessaz.com
CrossFit Full Strength
Area: Central Phoenix, on East Thomas Road near Arcadia.
Status: Describes itself on its own site as the first CrossFit and HYROX affiliate gym in central Phoenix.
Sixteen years in business, which matters more than it sounds. A gym that old has already bought the sleds, the rowers and the wall ball targets, and has coaches who have watched a lot of people learn to pace. Hyrox training runs as its own program alongside CrossFit, weightlifting and nutrition coaching, with classes six or seven days a week. There is a free trial for new members, so the cost of finding out is zero. Best for anyone living inside the 51 and 202 who does not want to drive to Scottsdale at 5 a.m. crossfitfullstrength.com
Jump Ship CrossFit
Area: North Phoenix, near Whispering Wind Drive off the I-17.
Status: States on its own site that it is a CrossFit and Hyrox affiliate.
The best value on this list if you self-program. Alongside coached CrossFit and Hyrox classes, members get 24/7 open gym access, including all day Sunday, which is the only way most working adults get to run a full race simulation without booking a class. Published pricing is $86 biweekly for unlimited plus open gym and $66 biweekly for two sessions a week. Drop-ins are accepted with prepayment and preregistration, so travelers can use it too. Best for experienced athletes who need station access more than instruction. jumpshipphoenix.com
Arizona Performance Institute
Area: Mesa, on East Pecos Road, serving the East Valley.
Status: Its own Hyrox page is headlined Official HYROX Training Club.
The outlier, and the one I would send an injury-prone athlete to. AZPI is a physical therapy and sports performance clinic first, so Hyrox training runs under Doctors of Physical Therapy who coach mechanics rather than just running the clock. Programming targets race-specific strength, aerobic development, running economy and station efficiency, with work on sled push and pull, wall balls, farmers carry, row and SkiErg. If something starts hurting in week nine of a build, the treatment table is in the same building. Entry is by performance consultation rather than a posted class price. azpipt.com
Suffer City
Area: South Power Road, right on the Mesa and Gilbert line. Its own site greets you as Gilbert while listing a Mesa address, so put the address in your maps app rather than the city name.
Status: Runs Hyrox-focused training. It calls itself Arizona's HYROX training headquarters, but I could not find an official affiliate claim on its site, so I am not calling it one.
What it does have is a competitive culture that most affiliate gyms do not: a standing Hyrox racing team that travels to races together, and a group training system built on endurance plus strength rather than a bolt-on class. Sessions are small, team based and coached. The intro is 30 days for $30, which is the cheapest way on this list to test whether you like training in a group. Best for the East Valley athlete who wants training partners on race day. suffercityaz.com
Mountainside Fitness
Area: More than twenty Valley clubs, including Tempe, Chandler at Ocotillo, Gilbert, Mesa, Scottsdale and several in Phoenix.
Status: Lists Hyrox Certified Training Facility among its club amenities on its own site. That is a certified training center designation, not the same label as an affiliate Training Club, and it applies per club rather than chain wide.
The pragmatic pick. One membership covers clubs near your house and your office, the functional training areas are Rogue equipped, and recovery is on site. Because the Hyrox certification is club by club, call the specific location and ask what Hyrox equipment and programming it actually has before you sign. There is a free five day pass, which is enough to walk the floor and check for a SkiErg. Best for people whose real obstacle is drive time. mountainsidefitness.com
What the race demands from a gym
Ignore the branding and walk the floor. Six things decide whether a gym can actually train you.
- SkiErg. Station one, 1,000 meters, and the machine most commonly missing from American gyms. No SkiErg means no way to train the opening station.
- Sled push and sled pull. Not just a sled, but turf and a lane long enough to use it. The race runs 50 meters of pushing and 50 of pulling. A sled on rubber mats in a ten meter lane teaches the wrong friction and the wrong pacing.
- Rower. The easy one. Nearly every functional gym in the Valley has Concept2 rowers.
- Wall balls. Check for two target heights. Men throw to 10 feet, women to 9. A single painted line is a problem.
- Sandbag lunges. A bag at your race weight and a lane long enough to walk 100 meters of it.
- Farmers carry. Kettlebells or dedicated handles, plus 200 meters of usable floor.
The SkiErg and the sled lane are the real filters. Ask about both on your tour, and ask the more important follow-up: can members use them outside of class time?
Phoenix adds its own wrinkle. From May through September, outdoor running here is not a preference problem, it is a safety problem, and the 8km of running in this race is half your result. Every gym on this list should be asked how much treadmill access members get, because for four months of the year that is your running program. The upside is the calendar: a late February race puts your build squarely in the season when a 6 a.m. run on the canal path is genuinely pleasant. And if you want altitude, Phoenix sits around 1,100 feet and gives you none of it, but Flagstaff sits near 7,000 feet and is a two hour drive, which is why serious endurance athletes in this state treat a summer weekend up north as a training block rather than a vacation.
Training for Hyrox without a Hyrox gym
You do not need an affiliate to get race ready. You need a plan and a set of honest substitutes.
The runs: use the canal paths and South Mountain from October through April, then move everything to a treadmill or a 4 a.m. start once the heat arrives. Train compromised running specifically, meaning runs that start immediately after a hard station, because that is the only kind of running this race asks for.
Sled push and pull: the best home substitute is a heavy sandbag dragged on grass or turf with a strap, or a tire sled. Bear hug carries and short heavy walking intervals build the same quad and calf tolerance at a heart rate you cannot control.
SkiErg: there is no perfect substitute. Banded straight-arm pulldowns, heavy rope work and rowing intervals get you close on the engine side. Get on a real SkiErg a handful of times before race day so the pattern is not brand new.
Sandbag lunges: train these exactly as written, because you can. One bag at race weight covers this station and the farmers carry pattern, which makes it the highest return piece of equipment you can own for this race, and why I built our line of training sandbags the way I did.
Wall balls: a medicine ball and a strip of tape on a wall at 9 or 10 feet.
Then put structure around it. Our Hyrox training plan lays out a beginner build week by week, and if you are racing somewhere else this season we have the same breakdown for Hyrox gyms in San Diego.
TRAIN THE STATIONS AT HOME
Raider Training Sandbag Kit
Adjustable from roughly 60 to 80 lb so you can hit race-weight sandbag lunges and load it heavy for sled-substitute drags on grass or turf. One bag covers two of the eight stations. $139.97.

Do you need a Hyrox affiliate gym to train for Hyrox in Phoenix?
No. Affiliation buys a gym official programming and marketing rights, not a monopoly on results. Plenty of people qualify for World Championships out of ordinary gyms and hot garages. What you need is access to a SkiErg and a real sled lane at some point in your build, a plan that progresses compromised running, and consistency. Where affiliation pays off here is early registration, since a home race in a fast-growing market fills quickly.
When is the next Hyrox race in Phoenix?
HYROX lists InBody HYROX Phoenix for February 25 to 28, 2027 on its official event page, across four days covering the usual singles, doubles and relay divisions. Venue information on that page still reads as coming soon, and the race schedule, laps and ceremony times are all listed as to be announced, so treat any specific address you see elsewhere as unconfirmed until HYROX publishes it.
Which Phoenix Hyrox gym is best for a total beginner?
Start where trying costs nothing. CrossFit Full Strength offers a free trial for new members, Infinity Fitness AZ gives you a free first class, and Mountainside Fitness has a free five day pass. Do all three in one week and you will learn more about what suits you than any article can tell you. If you already know you want small group coaching with a competitive edge, Suffer City's 30 days for $30 is the cheapest real trial period on this list.
How far out should I start training for Hyrox?
Twelve to sixteen weeks is the sweet spot for a first race if you already have general fitness. Eight weeks works if you are running consistently. Under six weeks, drop the time goal and aim to finish well, spending your sessions on the sled and the sandbag lunges, where undertrained athletes bleed the most time. For a late February race in Phoenix, that means starting in November, which conveniently lines up with the end of the heat.
