Hyrox Gyms in Atlanta: Where to Train for Your Next Race (2026)

Battle Bunker August 3, 2026 11 min read

Short answer: the two clearest official claims in town are Elite Edge Fitness in Chamblee and The Refinery on the Westside. For a studio that does nothing but Hyrox, Union Performance Academy on Ponce. For race-format classes inside a full-service gym, Carbon Performance in West Midtown. Outside the Perimeter, Alpha Fitness in Alpharetta and The Combine ATL in Mableton run Hyrox classes without claiming affiliate status.

Two athletes throwing wall balls during a functional fitness workout

Atlanta has no shortage of gyms that will make you tired. Hyrox does not care about tired. It cares about whether the building contains a SkiErg, a rower, a sled and 50 meters of turf to push it on, wall balls at two heights, a race-weight sandbag, and enough open floor for 100 meters of lunges and 200 meters of farmers carry. That list is what separates a Hyrox gym from a hard gym.

The good news is that this city has a deep functional fitness culture, which means the equipment problem is smaller here than in most metros. The bad news is that a lot of gyms have six of the eight stations and hope you do not notice which two are missing.

HYROX lists Factor_ HYROX Atlanta for April 23 to 25, 2027 on its official event page, with the venue confirmed as the Georgia World Congress Center downtown. That page also lists a Youngstars race for athletes aged 8 to 15, which is worth knowing if you have a kid who wants in.

A note on "official affiliate" versus "Hyrox-style"

The words matter. An official HYROX affiliate, usually branded as a HYROX Training Club, pays for that affiliation, receives official programming, may market under the HYROX name, and generally passes early race registration on to members. A gym running Hyrox-style conditioning without that agreement can still get you to a good finish time. It is a different relationship, not a lesser gym. Everything below reflects what each gym says about itself on its own website. Where no official claim exists, I say so rather than guessing.

Hyrox gyms in Atlanta

Union Performance Academy

Area: Poncey-Highland, on Ponce de Leon Place, inside The Training Room.
Status: Calls itself Atlanta's Hyrox-only fitness studio and displays the HYROX Training Club mark in its site footer. The site does not spell out affiliate terms in its copy, so confirm when you book.

One heads-up before you search: its old unionperformanceacademy.com address now redirects to a new domain under the Unleashed Performance Academy name, so if a link looks wrong, that is why. What has not changed is the model. Hyrox classes run six days a week, split into named blocks rather than one generic session: Complete for race skills under fatigue, Engine for aerobic and lactate threshold work, Foundational for interval training, Power for straight strength, plus a run club. That is a real training week, not a Saturday special. First class is free. Best for intown athletes who want Hyrox to be the whole program. unleashedperformanceacademy.com

Elite Edge Fitness

Area: Chamblee, on Broad Street, pulling from Brookhaven, Dunwoody, Buckhead and Sandy Springs.
Status: States on its own Hyrox page that Elite Edge is an official HYROX Training Club.

The strongest floor on this list for the sled. Elite Edge runs a 10,000 square foot facility with a 40 yard indoor turf lane, which is long enough to push, pull and carry the way the race actually asks rather than in short shuttles. Hyrox training is a standing weekly session on Saturdays at 9:30 a.m., built on the official training format under certified coaches, and the gym has been in business since 2012 so the coaching bench is deep. Free trial, no long-term contract. Best for anyone north or northeast of the city who wants a real turf lane. eliteedgeatl.com

The Refinery

Area: Westside, on Marietta Boulevard near Underwood Hills.
Status: States on its own Hyrox page that The Refinery is an official HYROX training gym.

The best option in the city if you want to actually race before you race. Beyond weekly Hyrox group classes on Sundays at 8:00, 9:15 and 10:30 a.m., The Refinery hosts Half-Rox events, running waves every ten minutes through the back half of a race format with your choice of station after each 1km, and it runs the official Hyrox PFT benchmark test. Its open gym is stocked with Hyrox event equipment, which means you can drill stations outside class. Classes are free for members and $20 for non-members, which is the most transparent published price I found in Atlanta. Physical therapy and a recovery room share the building. Best for athletes who learn by rehearsal. refineryfit.com

Carbon Performance Atlanta

Area: West Midtown, on West Marietta Street.
Status: Runs Hyrox-focused training. Its Hyrox page describes certified HYROX coaches and race-format programming but makes no official affiliate claim, so I am not making one for it.

The full-service pick. Hyrox classes are included with the EDGE membership rather than sold as an add-on, and they run on a weekly schedule structured around the real race order: timed run intervals mirroring the eight 1km segments, then sled push and pull, rowing, wall balls and burpee broad jumps. What sets it apart is the rest of the building, since the same membership covers strength floors, recovery amenities and other classes, and the gym is open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays. Best for people who want Hyrox as one part of a broader training life. carbonperformance.com

Alpha Fitness

Area: Alpharetta, off Nine McFarland Drive.
Status: Runs Hyrox-focused training. Its own homepage bills it as Alpharetta's top choice for CrossFit and Hyrox and lists Hyrox classes alongside CrossFit, but it does not claim affiliate status.

The North Fulton answer. If you live in Alpharetta, Milton or Johns Creek, the drive to an intown affiliate at 6 a.m. on GA 400 is the reason your training plan will fall apart, and a competent local gym you actually attend beats a better gym you skip. Alpha runs CrossFit classes, Hyrox classes, personal training, nutrition coaching and open gym hours, which covers station access and coached work in the same membership. There is a free intro class. Best for northern suburbs athletes who need the commute to be five minutes. alphafitnessga.com

The Combine ATL

Area: Mableton, on Mitchell Road in south Cobb, convenient to Marietta, Smyrna and Vinings.
Status: Runs Hyrox-focused training. Its own site lists Hyrox classes as a core program alongside hybrid fitness and nutrition, with no affiliate claim. Some third-party directories list a Peachtree Corners address for this gym that does not appear on its own site, so use the Mableton address.

The best coaching ratio here. Classes cap around ten people, which for Hyrox matters more than it sounds, because sled technique and lunge cadence are things a coach has to see to fix. Published pricing is $145 a month for three classes a week and $160 a month unlimited, both with no contract, and there is a free trial class with drop-ins welcome. Chiropractic, physical therapy and nutrition services are attached. Best for west side athletes who want small groups. combineatl.com

One honest gap: I could not find a Decatur gym making a Hyrox claim on its own website, only on third-party directories, so I have left that area off rather than list something I could not confirm. From Decatur, Ponce and Chamblee are both short drives.

What the race demands from a gym

Skip the marketing page and walk the floor. Six things decide whether a gym can train you for this.

  • SkiErg. Station one, 1,000 meters, and still the rarest machine on this list in American gyms. No SkiErg means the opening station is a guess.
  • Sled push and sled pull. A sled is not enough. You need turf and a lane. The race runs 50 meters each way, and a heavy sled on rubber matting in a short lane trains the wrong friction at the wrong pace.
  • Rower. The easy box to tick. Concept2 rowers are everywhere in this city.
  • Wall balls. Two target heights, 10 feet for men and 9 for women. One height means half your reps rehearse the wrong throw.
  • Sandbag lunges. A bag at your race weight and a lane long enough to cover 100 meters of walking lunges.
  • Farmers carry. Handles or heavy kettlebells and 200 meters of clear floor.

The SkiErg and the sled lane are the real filters. Ask about both on your tour, then ask whether members can touch them outside of class.

Atlanta adds two local complications. The first is the terrain. This is a hilly city, and hill running builds an engine, but Hyrox is run flat, indoors, on hard floors, at a pace you hold eight separate times. If every run you do is rolling, your legs will be strong and your pacing will be untrained. Get onto genuinely flat surfaces for your interval work, whether that is the BeltLine, the Silver Comet Trail out of Smyrna, or a treadmill at 1 percent. The second is humidity. From June through September, an outdoor tempo run here tells you almost nothing useful about your race pace, because the heat is setting your heart rate rather than your effort. An April race is kind about this, since the meaningful weeks of your build land between January and April when the weather cooperates, but summer training for a fall race elsewhere needs to move indoors or very early.

Training for Hyrox without a Hyrox gym

No affiliate nearby is not a reason to skip the race. You need a plan and a set of honest substitutes.

Athlete carrying heavy kettlebells during a farmers carry in a gym

The runs: half this race is 8km of running, and all of it happens on tired legs. Do most of your run volume flat and practice compromised running, meaning a run that starts the second a hard station ends. That single habit is worth more than any extra mileage.

Sled push and pull: the closest home substitute is a heavy sandbag dragged on grass or turf with a strap, or a tire on a rope. Bear hug carries and short, heavy walking intervals build the same quad and calf tolerance while your heart rate runs away from you.

SkiErg: nothing replaces it exactly. Banded straight-arm pulldowns, heavy rope work and rowing intervals cover the engine. Book time on a real SkiErg a few times in your build so the movement is familiar on race day.

Sandbag lunges: train these exactly as written, because nothing stops you. One bag at race weight covers this station and doubles for the farmers carry pattern, which makes it the single highest return purchase for this race and the reason I built our line of training sandbags the way I did.

Wall balls: a medicine ball and a taped line on a wall at 9 or 10 feet.

Then give it a shape. Our Hyrox training plan walks through a beginner build week by week, and if your race is on the other coast we have the same rundown for Hyrox gyms in San Diego.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need a Hyrox affiliate gym to train for Hyrox in Atlanta?

No. Affiliation gives a gym official programming and the right to use the name, not exclusive access to fitness. Athletes qualify for World Championships out of ordinary boxes and home garages every season. What you need is a SkiErg and a real sled lane somewhere in your build, running that progresses under fatigue, and enough weeks to absorb it. Where affiliation earns its keep in this city is early registration, because a hometown race at the Georgia World Congress Center will move fast.

When is the next Hyrox race in Atlanta?

HYROX lists Factor_ HYROX Atlanta for April 23 to 25, 2027 on its official event page, held at the Georgia World Congress Center on Andrew Young International Boulevard downtown. The race schedule, laps and ceremony times are all still listed as to be announced there, so treat any detailed timetable you see elsewhere as provisional. A Youngstars race for ages 8 to 15 is listed for Atlanta as well.

Which Atlanta Hyrox gym is best for a total beginner?

Try the free doors first. Elite Edge, Union Performance Academy, Alpha Fitness and The Combine ATL all offer a free trial or intro class, and The Refinery's Sunday Hyrox class is $20 for non-members with no membership required. If you want the gentlest possible first exposure, a scaled Half-Rox at The Refinery will teach you more about the stations in ninety minutes than a month of guessing.

How far out should I start training for Hyrox?

Twelve to sixteen weeks is the right window for a first race if you already train regularly. Eight weeks works if you are running consistently. Under six weeks, forget the time goal, aim to finish strong, and put your sessions into the sled and the sandbag lunges, where unprepared athletes lose the most minutes. For an April race here, that means starting in January and running one full race simulation two to three weeks out.
