Navy Body Fat Calculator 2026

The Navy BCA is now two steps: your waist-to-height ratio, then the Navy body fat table only if you need it. The limit is 26 percent for men and 36 percent for women, with no age groups. Check yours the way your CFL does.

Waist at the belly button, from your right side, tape level, bare skin, end of a normal breath. The Navy weighs every Sailor; this calculator only needs your weight when your ratio sends you to step 2.

How the 2026 Navy BCA works

  1. Height with shoes off, rounded up to the nearest half inch. Weight rounded to the nearest pound.
  2. Waist at the belly button, two readings, each rounded down to the nearest half inch. A third only if they differ by more than an inch; then the two closest are averaged, rounded down. When your first two readings are within an inch, the guide does not spell out the recorded value, so this calculator averages them and rounds down to the nearest half inch, the same way it handles the two closest of three.
  3. Step 1: waist divided by height, rounded down to four decimals. 0.5499 or below is within standards.
  4. Step 2, only at 0.5500 or above: height minus waist and your weight give your body fat from the Navy's Table-2 (men) or Table-3 (women). Within standards at 26 percent or less for men, 36 percent or less for women.

What changed on January 1, 2026

Through 2025 the Navy screened with a height and weight table, then an abdominal circumference screen (39 inches for men, 35.5 for women), then a neck, waist and hip tape. All three are gone. The two-step process above replaced them for every Sailor, with one body fat limit per sex instead of age groups.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Navy measure body fat in 2026?

In two steps. Step 1 is your waist-to-height ratio: 0.5499 or below and you are within standards. Step 2, only if you are at 0.5500 or above, looks up your body fat from your height minus your waist and your weight in the Navy's tables. Since January 1, 2026 there is no height and weight screen, no abdominal circumference screen and no neck or hip tape.

What waist-to-height ratio do I need to pass the Navy BCA?

0.5499 or below. The ratio is rounded down to four decimals, so 0.5499 passes step 1 and 0.5500 sends you to step 2, which is not an automatic failure.

What is the Navy body fat limit?

26 percent for men and 36 percent for women, with no age groups.

How is my waist measured?

At the belly button from your right side, tape parallel to the deck, on bare skin, at the end of a normal breath. Two measurements, each rounded down to the nearest half inch. If they differ by more than an inch a third is taken and the two closest are averaged, rounded down to the nearest half inch.

How are height and weight rounded?

Height is measured with shoes off and rounded up to the nearest half inch. Weight is rounded to the nearest pound, with no deduction for clothing.

Is there a performance exemption?

Yes, with limits. A Sailor who is not within BCA standards but scores Outstanding-Low or higher overall on the PRT, with every event at Excellent-Medium or higher, gets a PFA pass but still enters the Fitness Enhancement Program.

Is this an official Navy calculator?

No. It follows PRP Guide-4 (June 2026), and its step 2 math reproduces every cell of the Navy's printed body fat tables, but your official BCA is done by your CFL and recorded in PRIMS.
